When I first decided to try and break into the fashion industry, I hid out in my basement sewing clothes like a recluse.
I hibernated behind the comfort of my vintage viking machine (thanks Mom for passing it down to me!) and didn’t get out much.
The internet (just like me at the time) was still young. Facebook groups and online communities weren’t well known things.
Instead, people connected in real life. Yep, as in face to face.
But to me, that was scary.
So for months – heck, maybe even years – I was an introvert. I stayed in my bubble and didn’t make many connections. I didn’t work in the industry yet, so when I told people what I wanted to do, they didn’t get it.
More accurately, they didn’t get me.
But if I wanted to do something – anything – in fashion, I knew had to make a change. I had to get out of my comfort zone and meet people.
Because we all know, you can’t do it alone in this cutthroat industry.
So with sweaty palms and a pounding heart, I started networking. (Yeah, that horrible scary word that no one likes.)
And you know what happened?
It worked. I met other designers who had the same dreams as me. I started showing my designs on the runway. And then, I got invited to judge the runway.
I became part of a community. And man did it feel GOOD not to be alone any more. I met people who to this day are still some of my greatest friends and best connections. I got introduced to contacts for job opportunities. And then I landed one of those jobs.
(I’ll even send you my proven AI shortcuts video + cheat sheets to get you started.)
I know how scary it can feel to put yourself out there. But I also know how lonely it can be if you don’t.
It sucks to feel like no one understands your dreams, gets what you’re going through, or supports you along the way.
Which is why you have to find your tribe. Your community. The group of people who will pick you up when you fall down. Tell you to keep going when you want to give up. Give you the advice and guidance you need to get ahead it in this competitive industry.
And this is exactly why I created the Successful Fashion Designer community just for you. I would have killed for something like back when I was trying to “network”.
A place to get the inside scoop on secret industry resources, get expert guidance, and connect globally with likeminded people.
If you haven’t joined yet, here’s your invitation. There’s no excuse, since joining is completely free. There’s no catch, no pitch, nothing for sale. It’s just a supportive group of designers like you who are all working towards the same goals.
Wondering exactly what you’ll get? Here are just a few ways designers are using the Successful Fashion Designer group to get ahead:
And anything else you can think of. If it’s related to fashion design, textiles, and the industry, this is the place to get the support you need.
This group was built for YOU so you can get help with whatever YOU need. So you don’t sit behind your computer screen working by yourself, like I did so many years ago in my basement.
Finally start connecting with others who “get” you.
